Chauvin branch closed indefinitely
The damage to the Chauvin branch was quite extensive as all three floors experienced water damage. The main floor, where the banking area is, took the most damage. With the main floor roof collapsing, walls and roof in the second floor and tiles lifting in the basement, the assessment identified asbestos throughout the Chauvin branch building. This is not a concern to staff or members that have visited the branch as the material containing the asbestos was undisturbed and therefore was not hazardous to any individual that was in this location. With the asbestos, nothing can be completed in the branch until it has been remediated. At this time, we are working with our insurance provider and contractors to determine the next, best course of action in consideration of all the issues have been identified in the branch. Unfortunately we do not know when all the information will be provided to us and can determine that this is not a short term issue and will likely be longer term.
Knowing this, we know that our member’s would require access to their safe deposit boxes. Therefore, late last week Chauvin’s safe deposit boxes have been relocated to the Edgerton Branch, which continues to be open five days a week until anything further can be determined.
May 28, 2021 - Chauvin branch will remain closed indefinitely as the damage assessment is underway. Edgerton branch is open five days a week.
May 26, 2021 - Encompass Credit Union’s Chauvin branch experienced major water damage due to heavy rain, over the long weekend.
The Chauvin branch will be closed indefinitely as we determine the next steps for the building. During this time, the Edgerton branch will be open five days a week to provide members with service for both the Chauvin and Edgerton areas.
More information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.
