Heartbleed Bug

HEARTBLEED BUG AND YOUR INTERNET BANKING SECURITY

Be confident that your Internet Banking activity is secure.

Encompass Credit Union is aware of the Heartbleed bug, a software flaw which allows hackers to potentially access encrypted sites that use certain versions of the OpenSSL cryptographic software.

Encompass Credit Union has been advised by our Internet Banking Services Provider that OpenSSL is not used by MemberDirect® Internet Banking, therefore the system has not been affected. This means that the Heartbleed bug does not pose a threat to any of our Internet Banking platforms including MemberDirect through your home computer, MemberDirect Mobile Banking, or MemberDirect Mobile Web using your smartphone.

Our partner has also confirmed that the eBusiness CAFT application does not use the OpenSSL technology and is not vulnerable or impacted by the Heartbleed flaw.

Working with our service providers, our credit union has completed an assessment of our internal network to determine if there is any impact to our systems and services. No vulnerabilities have been identified.

More info on the Heartbleed bug is available at http://heartbleed.com.
